Coloc The Tailor- Grooming For Men

Coloc Tailor was established by Fong Wing Choy at Serangoon Road in 1952. The shop was known as Mee Wah Choy Kee Tailor until 1972 when it adopted its present name. According to Simon Fong, one of the founder's sons, the name was derived from a foreign language, meaning prosperity and happiness. It was selected to give the shop a new and progressive image. Since then, Coloc has established a name for itself and is today a thriving family business with five outlets located in various hotels throughout Singapore. The senior Fong has retired from active participation in running the shops' day to day affairs but the business is in capable hands as all the different outlets are managed by his children. At the helm of the Raffles Hotel Arcade shop are Simon, his sister Betty and his other sister Connie at the Marriott Hotel .

Since its establishment, Coloc has been supplying quality garments to Asian ministers, foreign dignitaries, ambassadors, expatriates, and professionals from both Singapore and abroad. This is not surprising as Coloc is a member of the Singapore Master Tailor's Association, and is recognised as an quality clothier by the Singapore Tourist Promotion Board and the Consumer Association of Singapore. It is also an authorised dealer in quality fabrics from world renown European and Japanese designers and textile merchants. Among the thousands of fine fabrics stocked by Coloc are brands such as Minova, Dormeuil, Ermenegildo Zegna, Loro Piana, Cerruti, Gianni Versace and Trussardi.
