Set up in October 2002, NuLife Care & Counselling Services Limited is a non-profitable organization providing youth with tuition services intergrated together with counselling. NuLife also specializes in preventive, developmental and remedial work targeted at youth-at-risk who are not receptive towards their family support or lack the support from their families. We also cater to youths who have sufficient family support yet still go wayward.
NuLife aims to enable needy and hyperactive students to have opportunities to be engaged in enriching activities, which otherwise might not be available to them. Primary activities include tuition classes from Primary One up to O levels, workshops, seminars, excursions and indirect counselling. We also liaise with the schools of our students to minimize negative behaviour and poor academic performances in school.
Tuition classes and remedial work to rehabilitate the youth are available, especially to needy students. We want to ensure that students who come from low-income families have an equal opportunity to be involved in these activities.
NuLife focuses its attention on school drop outs and ‘late bloomers’ too. It gives importance to students who wish to study but have surpassed the age criteria in main stream education. NuLife will ensure that it coaches these students accordingly so that they may attain their desired education. Many students who approach NuLife want to do their N or O levels privately. All our students have made it to the course of their choice in the polytechnic thus far.
Our motto is “Don’t Find Fault, Find A Remedy”. We strongly believe in sourcing for a solution rather than blaming the youth and harping on the problem. We also have a programme for students who are suspended from school. Suspended students who want to be on par with their classmates in terms of school work during their suspension period can choose to attend lessons at NuLife. Lessons will be tailored according to the students needs.
Most importantly, the drop-in centre makes the youths feel comfortable, it allows them to view youth workers as friends and not as authoritative figures.
