Our centre performs laser circumcision, where the excess foreskin is removed with a laser beam. In comparison to conventional circumcision, the excess foreskin is removed by a surgical bladder. The laser beam cuts as well as controls bleeding from the skin, resulting in a very tidy wound. This technique allows exact proportions of skin and mucous membrane to be removed. A few stitches are placed at the end of surgery to bring the edges of the wound together. These sutures will dissolve in a 7 - 10 days.

Laser circumcision is the technique of choice for children circumcision and can also be applied to adult patients. In children, it has been proven to be less painful and results in a quicker recovery.

The procedure is done as day surgery and no hospital admission is required. The patient can walk almost immediately after surgery which takes less than 20 minutes. Pain is minimal. Return to work is expected within 2-3 days. Sports activity can recommence after 3 weeks.
