COURSE OBJECTIVE
With the mission of shaping our built environment, supporting Singapore’s economic growth and enhancing the quality and productivity levels for the construction industry, BCA Academy has offer the Trade Diploma with the revised course structure to align with the Construction Registration for Tradesmen (CoreTrade)
scheme. The trainees will undergo 651 hours of training which comprises Part A (Foundation Skills), Part B (Technical Knowledge Skills) and Part C (Craft Skills and Knowledge).
The content of the trade diploma programme as follows:
PART A: 153 HOURS OF FOUNDATION SKILLS COMMON FOR ALL TRADE DIPLOMAS WILL CONSIST OF:
• Construction Technology
• Technical Drawings & CAD
• Communication Skills
• Supervisory Skills
PART B: 198 HOURS OF TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE WILL CONSIST OF INDUSTRY AND TRADE KNOWLEDGE FOR THE SPECIFIC TRADES:
• Module 1 - Electrical Safety (8 hrs)
• Module 2 - Electrical Principles 1(40 hrs)
• Module 3 - Electrical Principles 2(150 hrs)
PART C: 300 HOURS OF CRAFT SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE WILL CONSIST OF:
• Module 4 - Electrical Wiring Installation Control Measures (8 hrs)
• Module 5 - Bench Work on Trunking and Conduit (72 hrs)
• Module 6 - Electrical Wiring Installation (88 hrs)
• Module 7 - Basic Electrical Drawings (24 hrs)
• Module 8 -Electrical Installation Practices (108 hrs)

ENTRY REQUIREMENT
i) possess one of the following academic qualifications/experience:
• *2 GCE ‘O’ level passes, or
• *2 GCE ‘N’ level passes, or
• WDA’s Statement of Attainment in Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (Level 8)
• CITI’s Construction Trade Foremen Certificate with minimum 1 year of supervisory experience after completing certificate, or
ii) For existing site foremen, (industry grandfathers) a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or
iii) Holders of NTC 2 or NTC 3 awarded by ITE;
iv) Other qualifications will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis
* Those who have attempted the GCE 'O’ level and 'N’ level but do not meet this course’s specified two level passes, may take an English or Mathematics test conducted by BCAA to decide their enrol.
Holders of relevant SEC(K) certificates will be considered for exemptions on a case-by-case basis.
