ECNAD burst into life as Dance Dimension Project in 1996 and transformed the contemporary dance landscape in Singapore. ECNAD, which is dance spelt backwards, was incorporated in 2001 to show dance from a different perspective. Founded by Artistic Directors Lim Chin Huat and Tan How Choon, its brand of movement and sound matched with breath-taking visuals, surreal sets and imaginative costumes, performed by dancers driven by passion, made its indelible mark as an alternative contemporary dance company. Its outreach projects of site-specific performances broke the barrier of elitism, and won over new audiences from all walks of life.
After more than 50 works in 12 years, ECNAD continues to be daring, inventive and varied while embracing a multidisciplinary focus. It is committed to nurturing and supporting new talents, whatever their artistic strengths.
Today, ECNAD consists of 3 units: ARTISTIC DEVELOPMENT, EDUCATION and CREATIVE SERVICES.
