“TERRY, let me see if I understood what you just said,” Daniel struggles to make sense of what Terry had explained about Daniel sabotaging his own efforts at weight loss. “Just because I tend to say certain things or act in a certain manner that suggests or even hints at failure, I automatically influenced myself towards failure?”
“Yes, that is correct. In other words, there is truth in the saying ‘You are what you think’. This leads to another, ‘You are what you do’, because every one of your actions is a result of what and how you think; although you may not be consciously aware of that. In your case, the most applicable would be the catch phrase ‘You are what you eat!’
“So, based on what we just talked about, if you keep on telling yourself that you were just trying this or that weight loss programme, you had, in effect, unknowingly programmed yourself in your mind to be just a “try-er”, that is, someone who is always only trying things out without any real commitment towards reaching the finish line. You effectively made yourself a failure, to put it bluntly, sorry to say,” Terry affirmed apologetically.
“No, that’s alright. Once in a while, we all need a hard slap on the back or a kick in the pants to help us see the truth before us,” Daniel said with sudden wisdom. “Okay, I may have been programming myself to fail. So, am I stuck with that negative programming? If not, then what do I have to do to reverse the programming? How long will it take? Will I have to devote a lot of time and effort to it?” Daniel’s questions started to come fast.
“Daniel, let’s take it one step at a time,” chuckled Terry. “No, you are not stuck with any negative programming and yes, you can reverse any programming. In my MindFrame Seminar, I will teach you a technique to do just that, but yet it is so adaptable that you can use over and over again anywhere anytime you wish or need to.
“But first, you must understand that there are certain truths that may be hard to accept in the first place; let’s call them ‘concepts’ for now to make it easier. They may go against what you have learned or have been taught in your life up through today; even against basic logic as you know it.
“However, your understanding and acceptance of these concepts are very important in order to open up and free your mind, and to tap into and use your existing internal strengths and power already inside you to help you overcome any challenges or obstacles you face. Would you want to be able to overcome any challenges or obstacles you face; at work or in your personal life by your own power? Yes? Good! Then listen carefully. Here comes the first truth.
”There are no real problems,” Terry noted. Daniel’s eyes had widened with incredibility. “Yes, there are no real problems,” Terry repeated for it to sink in. “It is only our very own fears that create the problems for us. We only fear ‘fear’ itself. Have you ever noticed that whenever you summon enough courage to confront a fear, the fear would disappear? By confronting that fear, you will realise that the fear was because of your own ignorance and as such, the fear did not really exist. Therefore, if the fear is not real, then there should not be any problem, should there?”
“So, here’s what I want you to do to prepare yourself for my MindFrame Seminar please accept the truth that your fears are born from your own ignorance, and come with an open and learning mind.”
