Ask Carrie
RELATIONSHIPS in the year 2007: What's it like for singles living in a fast-paced, first-world country where people spend most of their time working. How can you attract a positive relationship into your life?
In today’s world of faced-paced jobs, deadlines, work commitments and everything else busy professionals have to deal with, it’s no wonder so many are dissatisfied with their romantic life.
There seems to be little time to devote to, look for, or even think about what one actually wants in terms of a romantic relationship.
Whether you are looking for that special someone or are already involved and wanting to find ways to keep the romance alive, it seems we are constantly looking for ways to improve things in the relationship arena. For those of us looking for love, without any time to actually even consider what it is we want, this is why we end up with, well, nothing.
If the message we are sending out to the universe is not clear and concise, what we will get back is an ambiguous, confused answer. Not deciding is also a choice; you choose by default and will also probably end up with what you don’t want. The first thing you need to do is to decide what you do want. Name it. Write it out. Draw a picture of it. Know exactly what it is that you are hoping to attract.
The next step is to make sure your behaviours are in alignment with and support that. If you are looking for a church-going, family oriented partner, don’t go looking in a singles bar.
If you do have someone in your life, finding ways to keep the romance alive or deal with the ups and downs is challenging. Finding the time to do that within the context of a 50 or 60 hour workweek is tricky!
In this new upcoming column, I will give you an opportunity to ask specific questions regarding your own personal story.
Are you looking for love but not quite sure how to go about it? Or, are you currently in a relationship and have an issue you’re not quite sure how to deal with? Are you single and just want to ask about dating, sex, or anything else in the relationship department?
There are no stupid questions. Don’t be shy, ask anything.
