Chef Peter Thornley
Private dinner by Peter Thornley, at $200 ++, is this Friday.

IT’S been a fantasy-come-real week for foodies what with the World Gourmet Summit in Singapore and the select private dinners it has organised over the past few days, featuring top-rated chefs from all over the world.

This Friday (25 April) is your last chance to experience a WGS dinner, with chef Peter Thornley, whose menu inspirations, according to www.newzealand.com, “range from everyday objects like a trellise fence to the quirky, such as Donatella Versace’s handbag. Peter once served a first course in paper handbags using chopsticks as decorative handles.”

Paulaner BeerWe hope he’ll be as creative and intriguing at Sistina Ristorante along Jalan Meran Sagah, where dinner will be at $200 ++.

More information about Thornley from the New Zealand website: “Now based in Auckland as Bracu's executive chef, Peter won the award for the best museum restaurant in the world, while working as executive chef at Te Papa's iconic restaurant. Other accolades include, former co-owner of the highly acclaimed Soul Bar & Bistro in Auckland and being named Singapore Chef of the Year, four years running. In 1987, Peter competed against 1200 European chefs in the Mandarin Napoleon Culinary Grand Prix, and won.”
Paulaner's Weissbier (Wheat beer) or Hefe-Weizen,
is the main attraction at the gourmet barbeque
this Saturday at Sentosa.

According to WGS, Thornley and his team “strive to deliver the best, making use of the freshest ingredients available.”

Meanwhile, on Saturday (26 April), enjoy a gourmet barbeque with Paulaner Beer, the closing event for the WGS. It’s surely going to be a fun party. The venue is at Sapphire Pavilion, Siloso Beach, Sentosa, and damage is at S$168+.

At the BBQ, Paulaner will feature its lead product in Germany and in the export markets: the Paulaner Weissbier (Wheat beer) or Hefe-Weizen. This beer, imported from Munich/Germany, is the leading Weissbier in Germany and increasingly popular thanks to a fruitier taste and it’s refreshing character. Weissbier is the traditional brew drunk in Munich/Bavaria, probably the beer-capital of Germany.
