1) Season that fresh fish you bought from the market with some good sea salt, drizzle some garlic infused olive oil and sprinkle dill all over it. Grill the fish till cooked and, viola, you’ve got something simply bare but tasty.

2) Get some fermented soya bean paste, mix it with pounded chillies and smear it all over your fish. Steam with sliced ginger and garlic, and serve hot.

3) If you happen to have salmon fillet, try glazing it with a sweet whiskey marinate (two cloves garlic, half cup whiskey, quarter cup light soy sauce, quarter cup orange juice and two tablespoons vegetable oil) and let it sit for a few hours in the fridge before grilling it. You’ll a crisp delicious meal that will impress.

4) For an oriental take on sea bass, you should try mixing a Japanese-inspired marinade made with some sake with soy sauce, sugar, minced ginger and garlic, and black pepper. Let your sea bass sit overnight and grill it just before your party starts. Now await the ‘oiishi!’ that’ll soon come out from your guests’ mouths.

5) Mix together some white cooking wine, Dijon mustard, oilive oil, honey, lemon guice, Worcestershire sauce and ground black pepper. Use this marinade when grilling your fish – tweak the amounts as you see fit, use your powers of estimation and soon you’ll be known as the fish master among your friends!

6) If you’re brave enough, you could marinate your fish with some wasabi, before using your favourite flour batter recipe to add a twist to the traditional fish and chips.

7) A simple dash of Cajun spices or paprika certainly brings out the flavours of your fish, or if you want something more citrus-y, tries the lemon-pepper seasoning from MasterFoods.

8) Serve with an interesting side dish like grilled zucchini or grilled onions.
