Japanese Pizzas
Pizzas with a Japanese twist
By Cheryl Chia

In Singapore, when you’ve eaten something delicious, you smile and go “Shiok”; in Malaysia, it’s “Sedap”. Likewise, in Japan, the locals go “Oishi!” when they’ve savoured some tasty and scrumptious food. So when you come across a pizza joint that names itself Oishi!, you tend to stop and wonder if their pizzas are really that good.

At first you tend to be a tad skeptical and think of it as a gimmick but then the other half of you starts to reason that it might be really delicious. Well, you’re in luck because I’ve tried some myself and I’m here to give you the lowdown: I didn’t know what to expect since I’ve never tasted a Japanese pizza before. I guess one just has to trust that Oishi! Japanese Pizzas are indeed Oishi!

Originating from Japan, Oishi! Japanese Pizza was created by a Japanese who used to work at a pizzeria in Italy. He improved on the idea of pizzas and started to fuse Japanese ingredients into the Italian pizza.
It is extremely delicious ..

Using traditional sauces and Japanese toppings like seaweed and bonita flakes, his pizza became a huge hit. They have a selection of interesting sounding pizzas on their menu, with choices like Wasabi Seafood, Japanese Curry Chicken/Beef and even Green Tea Chicken. Topping all that is the attention grabbing prices beside them. With a perpetual Buy One Get One Free deal, this eatery will keep your tummies and wallets happy.

I had a tough time deciding which ones to try, but went with Unagi & Leek and Teriyaki Chicken eventually. It was uber delicious. The toppings were generous and the sauces, phenomenal. It tasted so authentic that I thought I was eating sushi! Both pizzas bowled me over and left me wanting more. Alas I don’t have a bottomless pit for a stomach or else I would have tried every pizza on their menu.

Leaving as satisfied diner, I was comforted by the fact that they do deliveries. All I need to know is the number to call the next time I crave for some Oishi! Pizza.
